I decided to try to create a before and after image slider in order to show the effects of recent flooding.
I took a photo of the gates that were placed across a county road that was closed years ago when a flood control dam was built downstream. On Thursday this week the gates were still clearly visible although the property on the far side had begun to flood. After heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday night the gates were no longer visible — only the fake crow on top of the post could be seen.
Using the crow as a reference point, I overlaid a the previous image of the gate across a photo taken Saturday morning with our maintenance contractor, Bradley, wading in the floodwater in the foreground (again, this area is usually high and dry). I used some software to blend the image of the gate into the photo I took on Saturday and then used the before and after images in a slider effect so that you can see how the water had risen so high on Saturday that the gates were underwater.
Keep your eye on the crow on the fence post in the background (it’s located in the area to the right of Bradley’s head, sitting on top of the post and you can just make out the signs below the crow).
